M104, Comet Ikeya-Zhang & Jupiter

March 15-18, 2002 - Chiefland Astronomy Village, Florida

Air-cooled Olympus C2000Z Digital Camera - 20" GOTO Starmaster Telescope

by Gary Honis

Ambient temperatures were very warm allowing comfortable overnight obserserving; one night in short-sleeves. This was not good for cooling of the digital camera and exposures were limited to 8 and 16 seconds because of noise with the air-cooled Olympus C2000Z digital camera. Image were taken using a 31mm Nagler eyepiece coupled to the digital camera with a televue digital camera adapter. Sky conditions were humid and hazy with dense fog at times.
