This image was taken using the Logitech Fusion Webcam using OPEN VIDEO CAPTURE instead of the original software provided by Logitech. The advantage of Open Video Capture is that is allows AVI capture imaging at the full 1.3 Megapixel imaging chip resolution of 1280 X 960 pixels over a USB 2.0 connection.

SUN in H-Alpha - 2/9/06:

An Orion ED80 refractor on an LXD55 mount was used with a 60mm Coronado H-Alpha filter. A modified Logitech Fusion webcam was used at prime focus. Sky conditions were clear. A 1/10 second exposure time was used for prominences and a 1/250 second exposure time was used for surface detail. 30 second AVIs were taken for each. 105 uncompressed BMPs were combined for the surface image and 23 uncompressed BMP files were combined for the prominences.

Open Video Capture was used to capture the above image at a resolution of 1280 X 960 pixels and taken at 5 frames per second with the following webcam settings:
